Originally, operations were restricted to the local dark air-cured business but soon the company started to take a keen interest in developing burley crops in the Philippines. This reflects ULPI’s strategy of further developing the quality of Philippine tobacco. The company also evolved into a full service leaf supplier servicing the cigarette, cigar, and smokeless industries both locally in the Philippines and internationally. By encompassing the product with a complete structure from seed to packing to shipment, Universal Philippines can ensure the integrity of the product. This structure also assures trace-ability of the product, and full support on Social Responsibility Programs and Good Agricultural Practices with our farmers, effectively making them our partners in tobacco growing.
