ISR leads debriefing for Osaka University student visitors

As part of their three-day visit to UPLB, four students from Osaka University underwent a debriefing facilitated by the International Student Relations (ISR) at the Learning Resource Center (LRC) Training Room, Student Union Building on September 18, 2024.

The program included a “Four Pictures and a Story” activity, facilitated by Kathleen Marie V. Paguio, ISR senior office assistant, wherein the student delegates created a story based on four pictures taken during their three-day visit to the country. The students also discussed the learnings they had from the visit.

The student delegates shared stories entitled “Kumakain,”“Plants,” “Amazing Everyday,” and  “For Next Generations,” highlighting their learning experiences during the visit to different agricultural institutions.

Rina Kanda, an international MS Community Development student of UPLB, also participated in the debriefing activity and presented her story entitled “Adventure.”.

Hosted by Vanessa Ebron, the debriefing program began with welcoming remarks from Gonzalo H. Amante, Jr., ISR head, and was followed by a video presentation on ISR Programs and Services.

After the program, Prof. Yosuke Shimazono of Osaka University gave a message regarding the visit.

The debriefing session was part of the activities of student delegates to UPLB from September 16 to 18 that was facilitated by the Office of International Linkages (OIL).

The visit was aimed at immersing the students in activities where they can learn more about rice varieties and the role of rice culture in Southeast Asian societies.

During the trip, they visited the Institute of Crop Science (ICropS) in UPLB, the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI), and the Villa Escudero Plantation in Tiaong, Quezon.

Participating in the trip were three undergraduates and one graduate student taking up specializations in bioengineering, computer science, human science, and Filipino at Osaka University.
