LRC-UPLB student orgs’ partnership for 2024 activities in the works
23 September 2024 | Joshua Michael G. Jonas |
The Learning Resource Center (LRC) held a special meeting with selected recognized student organizations of UPLB as part of its new program on LRC COLABS or Creating Opportunities for Learning and Building Synergies on September 9, 2024, at the LRC Main Office.
LRC and the representatives of 16 student organizations discussed the details of establishing partnerships and possible entry points for collaborations in implementing projects.
Joshua Michael Jonas, a researcher at the LRC, facilitated the meeting by discussing LRC’s mandates, its 12 programs and services, and the processes on how to request technical, logistical, and other assistance or support from LRC in implementing their activities to align this to LRC’s mandate in providing academic support services.
He highlighted the provisions of partnerships with LRC and the corresponding requirements.
Jonas encouraged the organizations to plan their target activities ahead of time if they wish to partner with LRC to provide sufficient lead time for preparation such as reservation of venues and equipment.
LRC Director Mariyel Hiyas Liwanag expressed gratitude to the representatives of the organizations for consistently considering LRC as a collaborator in providing student support services to UPLB constituents, most especially in line with achieving academic excellence.
She encouraged the organizations to continue fostering a culture of public service among the students.
The 16 UPLB organizations who participated in the meeting have previously partnered with LRC.
These organizations are the UP Concordia Scientia Animalis, UPLB Genetics Society, Alliance of Statistics Majors-UPLB, UPLB Statistical Society, UPLB Mathematical Sciences Society, UPLB Economics Society, Alliance of Computer Science Students-UPLB, Philippine Association of Nutrition-Alpha Omega Chapter, UP Alliance of Chemical Engineering Students, UP Actuarial Science Society, UPLB Chemical Society, UPLB Society of Chemical Engineering Students, Society of Exchange Students-UP, UP Junior Executive Society, and GABAY ISKO-UPLB.
