LRC elevates graphic design skills of staff, SAs, content creators
23 March 2024 | Jennina Marie Mora |
To enhance the graphic design capabilities of its staff, student assistants, and content creators, the UPLB Learning Resource Center (LRC) held an in-house training workshop, “From Concept to Masterpiece: Crafting Visual Excellence,” on February 28, 2024, at the LRC Training Room.
Digital marketing specialist and freelance photographer Lawrence Gill D. Salgado led the graphic design masterclass. Salgado, a former #TeamLRC member, equipped the participants with tools, techniques, and inspiration to transform their ideas into visual masterpieces for LRC.
In addition to discussing the fundamentals of graphic design, such as the rule of thirds, emphasis, and contrast, Salgado encouraged participants to explore and create art first to be creative.
The workshop was well-received by the attendees, who appreciated the resource speaker’s knowledge and insights as well as LRC’s efforts to improve their skills to deliver high-quality creative works.
LRC previously collaborated with Salgado on the “G Ka Pa Ba Mag-Online Learning” webinar series in April 2021. As the resource speaker for the second theme, which focused on leveling up online learners’ design skills, he demonstrated the application of graphic design basics to various creative outputs, shared tips for taking better pictures with smartphones, and provided basic editing techniques using Adobe Photoshop.
Around 7,000 individuals from various affiliations attended the webinar series, which can be viewed on YouTube. It is part of one of LRC’s flagship programs, the Creative Activities and Recreational & Educational Services (LRC CARES).
Such webinars and training workshops manifest LRC’s vision of promoting academic excellence and fostering lifelong learning among students, staff, and other stakeholders. LRC aims to provide more platforms for creative dialogue to encourage collaboration, innovation, and service.
